The Streisand Effect Is Our Friend

On 357 Magnum I found a post called Cops Have No Sense of Humor. Click over and check it out.

I’ve never heard of the rapper called Afroman but the dude’s got the right attitude. The cops kicked down his door (literally), burst in with weapons drawn (literally), rifled through his stuff (literally), found nothing illegal (literally), and took his cash (literally). None of that is exaggeration.

What a bummer! I was born in a nation where such a thing never happened. I live in that nation’s hollow shell where police routinely seize assets (the word is stealing) and our president who got more votes than any other candidate in history keeps political prisoners and periodically circles the White House with concertina wire.

Afroman is a clever fellow. He didn’t freak out. He used the most powerful force on earth against totalitarians; humor.* He wrote a happy little song and added the video from his home security system. It couldn’t be more beautiful. So of course the cops sued him (literally). I find it funny that the home security system did exactly what it was supposed to do (document unwanted home invaders). The uniformed invaders disabled the cameras, just like any other home invaders.

I guess the best that can be said is the cops didn’t kill anyone or shoot a dog. (No word if Afroman has a dog.)

We can learn from Afroman’s mellow song. I would never have heard about some rapper in Ohio. I never would have known that cops were acting like dickheads in his vicinity. Now I have and I’m spreading the fun. Lets make these cops the most well known twerps in their state. The Streisand Effect can be a force for good:

The Streisand effect is the way in which attempts to hide, remove, or censor information can lead to the unintended consequence of increasing awareness of that information. It is named after American singer and actress Barbra Streisand, whose attempt to suppress the California Coastal Records Project’s photograph of her cliff-top residence in Malibu, California, taken to document California coastal erosion, inadvertently drew greater attention to the photograph in 2003.

*I’m serious about humor. The Soviets were evil totalitarian monsters. They were terrified of the slightest mockery. The same applies to modern day totalitarians. Lets go Brandon!

If it’s the same Afroman, he did the song “Because I Got High”. Sorta funny.

    • AdaptiveCurmudgeon says:

I think it is the same guy. The voice reminded me of that song.

It is him. Love the cops don’t want them acting the fool should be suppressed. Guess they forget who they work for.
Not my favorite rapper, but moving up on my list of favorite freedom loving Americans. Not afraid to stand up to the power.
Like Solzhenitsyn said, If, instead of cowering behind our doors, we had attacked the secret police with what we had, they could never have oppressed us. My poor paraphrase.
        Still true.
And I will not wear a mask or let anyone close my church ever again.

  2. B says:

And now the cops are suing him for using their likenesses in the music video…Stuff he recorded with his won surveillance cameras as they did their search/invasion.

I get what you’re saying, AC. You are 100% correct as far as it goes.

    BUT

The system no longer works. But I don’t have much sympathy for mouthy blacks either. George Floyd was guilty as sin. Derek Chauvin went to prison for Murder One AND manslaughter – for doing his job. Police departments staffed with good guys got defunded and kissed off by the hundreds and the politicos and libertarians applauded. When a case actually DOES make it to court, the perp gets every benefit of the doubt, the cops get none and the usual outcome is that a dangerous re-offender is put back on the street as soon as possible. Few people realize that it is the same 20% of the people doing 80% of the crime.

We have the police departments we most assuredly deserve. It’s going to get worse too… you can’t have a society that works like this.

I don’t think we will for much longer Glen. Came here from Irish’s link and am thankful. I hope this goes global so the world can see what clown world looks like.

Three or four Montana National Guard guys and I were in a bar in southern Hungary on our way back to Bosnia from Budapest, and they had a jukebox that took Forint coins. With pockets full of change, we alternated between Afroman’s “Because I Got High” and Daft Punk’s “One More Time” for about an hour straight.

Shooting pool and with a table full of empty bottles, the locals in there got darker and darker looks on their faces as the songs alternated back and forth. Just as it looked like “Wango Tango It’s a Free-For-All” and we were going to foreign prison for many moons, on came Elvis.

I shit you not, you could have created diamonds from asshole-coal, there were a lot more of them that suddenly defrosted when “Love Me Tender” came piping out of the speakers.

I guess God does take care of fools, drunks and country boys, that was enough proof for me, and the mention of Afroman brings me back there with a smile on my face.

Another reason I don’t back many “Blue”. They seem to be just armed demturd party bully boys who don’t have to pay for anything they destroy.

    • AdaptiveCurmudgeon says:

I felt the same way when riots broke out in several cities in 2020 and the police didn’t protect the innocent or property but basically sided with protesters. They picked a side and apparently rule of law wasn’t their choice.

    • Tree Mike says:

I believe the proper term is Armed Gov’t Workers. They shoot your dog and take your shit. Asset Forfeiture doncha know.

Thanks for the link and the mention. We need to keep this ball rolling.

Adams County is beautiful, and far enough out in the boondocks that you can’t even call it Greater Cincinnati… It is probably an hour’s drive with no traffic. Though depending on what part of the county Afroman is in, It is probably beautiful.

And while I don’t know for a fact, I would bet dollars to donuts that the Sheriff and his deputies are a bunch of good-ole-boys who were going to show that rapper from LA how they do things in the outback.

That didn’t work out too well for them…

  7. Zendo Deb says:

Thanks for the link and the mention. We need to keep this trending as long as possible.

The crybabies in Adams County – about an hour or a bit more from Cincinnati – otherwise known as the Sheriff’s department are distressed that their idiocy is on display for the world to see. Maybe in the future they can refrain from being idiots.
