I just split a trailer load of wood and then took a break to eat a half a jar of dill pickles. Both were pretty satisfying. I have no idea why.

If it works for you, it means a lot. If you don’t know what it means, keep doing it until it makes sense or you run out of dill pickles, whichever comes first.
And shaddup about the firewood. I’m overdue for my couple of cords for the year.
I can tell you why I get satisfaction out of cutting and splitting a load of firewood for the stove. It isreal work with a direct benefit that I saw to myself. It isn’t a heating bill for last month that I now have to pay, it’s future heat, stacked and ready. And there is nothing like the warmth of a room with a wood stove.
As long as you don’t start splitting and stacking dill pickles, and munching on firewood . . .
it the little things in life fire and sustenance aint life grand
