Homestead Update

One of my turkeys looks sick. I think he’s going to die.

There’s nothing I can do. I’ll just have to wait and see, but I think he’s toast. I’m a bit more upset than I’d expect. I guess I got attached to the little critter.

Update: It’s dead. I suspect it ate a string and that somehow clogged up the works. Bummer. We’re down to one turkey now.

Our neighbors had free-range chickens that came over regularly for treats and such. Coyotes got the last two last week. Even tho’ they weren’t ours, we still were attached to them.

Turkeys were never renowned for wisdom.

Replace Former Turkey after suitable mourning period, and install Another Duck To Rule Them All (yes, BPC2), and report on Boating Activities.

If only you had an Ultra-lite Aeroplane, you could, summing up the capabilities of Honey Badger and (your un-named self assembled above-water vessel), almost peek over the horizon of the abilities of the humble, underrated Duck.

I almost missed my connecting bus this morning on account of watching a mother Duck and her two adorable little feathery offspring cavorting in the last floodwaters of the recent rains. Somehow, I think they still got the better deal…

Bought 10 turkeys this spring, 5 died. Never again. Bought 10 geese, one died, the others thrived. Geese it is from here on out.

I think what happen could just as easily have happened to a chicken. Just a matter of chance. I’ve never raised geese but a foray into ducks led to the bloaggable freedom rockstar I called Bowling Pin Chicken.
