Star Wars Movie Review Followup

Someone at BBC Lounge linked to my rant about Star Wars. (Whoever you are, thanks.) This made me happy for reasons which have nothing to do with hit counts. Three particular details stand out:

First: BBC is not a decrepit news organization, it’s a forum about bass boats. I wrote about Star Wars and gained attention amid the bass boats. Who could have seen that coming? Meanwhile people who really dig fishing wound up, en masse, reading my blog which is as much about smoked tractors and homicidal trees as anything. (Really it’s a blog about nothing.) It’s totally random and therefore delightful.

Second: Reply #16 on the Bass Boat Forum did wonders for my ego.

“I am kind of thinking that the review is better than the movie. Lol”

Third: Reply #26 crushed my ego back to the appropriate size.

“The guy that did the review is a total douche canoe”

So there you have it. We live in an unpredictable world that makes no sense. Somehow that means I’m either a superlative reviewer or a douche canoe (or both!). I wouldn’t have it any other way.

A.C.

P.S. I still miss Darth.

That explains why I can’t find the viewing schedule for Dr. Who.

“crushed my ego back to the appropriate size”
And what is the appropriate size for a crushed superlative douche canoe ego? (BTW, yer review rocked!)

So now a bass boat enthusiast claims to be an expert on canoes? Sounds like he might have some problems. Wonder if he’s really from the Big Craphole, and is merely a Rhinestone Bass Boater???

    • Ironically I’m an expert on canoes. I’ve got a 17′ kevlar that I’ve taken to hell and back. I can say without a doubt that it is not a douche. 🙂

I’d love to ridicule Bass Boats but that would be just sour grapes. If I had the money to blow I’d be out there with a 100HP fiberglass wonder with classic 1970’s neon speckle paint. I’m subtle like that. And of course I’d explain to everyone listening that I needed 100HP to catch a bass. Who wouldn’t want a muscle car of the sea? Alas I’m cheap and weird so I paddle a canoe and get my ass kicked whenever the wind breaks 10 knots.

Incidentally remember this comment because there’s a boat thing afoot. Sometime mid summer I hope to post about my newest boat (which is as old as Star Wars and definitely not a bass boat). It’s a work in progress and I pray that I have better luck repairing floating things than old tractors.

        ???
        100 HP
        ???

Whatcha doin’ gettin’ you a little dinghy like that??? You might as well just paddle the thing. No, it ain’t no REAL bass boat unless it’s a Nitro Z-21 Z-Pro with a 300-hp Mercury Verado Pro FourStroke hanging on the back. I mean, when you’re out on the lake and you run outta brew, you GOTTA have a way to get back to the dock and refill QUICK, man!!!

I am still siding with Big Bang– I enjoyed that more than thought I would. It wasn’t stellar. It wasn’t bad. I think it was better than ROTJ- but that is probably the result of there being no Ewoks. But don’t fool yourself. Your blog is better than Star Wars. I read it through to the end. Because it was funny. I miss the photos and captions. You have a gift for that. But yeah. AD is better than G.Lukas, any day, and you can quote me on that. Keep up the good work.

    • Big Bang is like $3 an episode on Amazon. That’s like a dime a minute to hear Sheldon monologue. At that price it’s dead to me. (I did soak up all Big Bang I could from hotel cable though.)

Thanks for saying nice things about my blog. The lack of photos and captions is either laziness or an experiment. (OK fine… it’s mostly laziness.) Generally I can write “1000 words” before I surf up a “suitable image”. That said I’ll post a photo of my duck or something soon. (The duck thing is tragic… but that’s another post.) A secondary experiment is that many of my favorite blogs post a weekly bikini or two as God and the internet intended. I’ve never bothered because I’m too damn lazy. I’ve never quantified the “hit penalty” but I presume it’s significant.

Correct me if I am wrong, but…a canoe is significantly larger (greater) than a bag. Therefor the commenter in question was attesting to your greatness. Lemonade being made from lemons etc. Jus’ sayin’.

  5. P2 says:

Gotta agree….the review was better than the movie. 10 minutes in I was thinking “I’ve seen this already…..” Besides, these guys are bass guys; I’m bettin largemouth bass at that…..you prolly won’t see ’em on a windy northern lake in November chasin Muskie or walleye….
